NALANDA 1996 – March, 2011: A QUANTITATIVE GLANCE
  •  Nalanda had provided training support to Alternative schooling system of the DPEP program (1999-2000) in 15 districts of Uttar Pradesh and developed an extended team of 75 trainers in these districts.

  • Through the Child Rights Project Nalanda has been able to reach out to 20642 children out of which 14302 children have been mainstreamed to government schools so far.

  • Through the Girl’s Education Program, Nalanda has established 180 girl’s education centers in which more then 6000 girl children of 6-14 age group have been enrolled.

  • Through the Maqtab-Madarsa program Nalanda has trained 1134 Mudaris through various training sessions and has reached out to 65147 Muslim children. Through the program 392 Madarasas have been covered.

  • Nalanda has developed, printed and disseminated 28 supportive reading materials (pictorial story books) for the development of language skills among the children in the districts of Barabanki and Lalitpur for the purpose of innovative and quality education of the girl child.

  • Nalanda has translated 51 short stories for the tribal children in Jharkhand in their native languages like Santhali, Mundari and Ho to improve their language skills.

  • Nalanda has developed and published more than 20 training and teaching learning materials so far.

  • Nalanda has provided training and technical support to more than 600 government schools in Sahibganj district in Jharkhand to make their school libraries functional.

  • Nalanda has capacitated 28 NGOs and 51 private schools to enable them to provide quality primary education through their programs.

  • Training packages & materials developed by Nalanda and adopted by government system-

         >  Forty days training package for the capacity building of instructors of alternative schools.

          >  Module for establishment and use of School Libraries- adopted by DPED Uttar Pradesh and
              Jharkhand

         >  Three days teachers training module for science teaching – adopted by DPEP, Uttar Pradesh and
              intensively implemented in Uttar Pradesh.

         >  Supplementary reading materials for primary grade children – adopted by Janshala and UNICEF.
