Part I of the module is the foundation training course of fifteen days. It
basically focuses on the methods of communication, class management and teaching
methods. Apart from these it also aims at value orientation of the trainees so
that they are able to sensitively deal with students who come from different
social backgrounds. The students, who come to the school from poorer sections of
society, have special learning and emotional needs. The teachers are sensitized
towards these needs and special emphasis is laid on issues of gender
discrimination prevailing in the society. Education is envisaged as the tool to
fight social discrimination and dogmas prevailing in society. These issues have
been brought forward through group activities, games and plays.
Part II of the module is stretched over fifteen days. It is more subjects
specific and focuses on the teaching of Hindi, Mathematics and Environmental
Science. It targets the teachers of Class II and III.
Part III of the module is a ten days Refreshers Training module for the
teachers of Class III, IV and V. Research among children of these classes
has revealed certain specific learning needs. It focuses on the hard spots of
teaching - those spots which have been generally identified as areas where
the students as well as teachers face maximum difficulty. The training module
addresses such specific needs apart from following the standard curriculum set
for the above mentioned classes.
