This is also one of the flagship old programs of Nalanda. However, outreach of the program is better as itis now a more established program and there is greater know how among the NGOs about it.Over the years, this program has played a key role to build perspectives of NGOs on qualityeducation. Before Nalanda conceptualized the NGO capacity building program it already had the experienceof working with various non-government organizations. Through its experience Nalanda realizedthat often NGOs may not have the requisite skilled man power that is aware of every nuance ofquality education, particularly its soft components. As the result the educational programme runby these organizations may sometimes fall short of desired results. Also, a lot of theorganizations work on the issue of drop out children and they try to mainstream these children toformal schools. Under such structured programme creativity and genuine quality often take abackseat.Hence Nalanda decided to run an intervention to improve the capacities of such organizations sothat they can give a proper perspective to their educational programs and area able to linkinterventions to present national educational policies and issues, local educational issues andinnovative educational ideas.Accordingly Nalanda selects ten NGOs every year and have been doing so since 2010. TheseNGOs are then oriented, sensitized and capacitated through residential trainingprograms in phases through a course and training module developed by Nalanda. Since the inception of the program 124 NGOs have been benefitted and a network of dedicated NGOs working for children education has been developed.
