Despite the many efforts undertaken by the government and NGOs to mainstream children into formal primary schools, there are still a very large number of children who are out of reach of the formal school system due to various socio-economic and cultural reasons. NALANDA has specifically aimed at including them under its different educational endeavors. To address the educational needs of such children, alternative education systems have been adopted both by governments as well the NGOs. NALANDA has developed a complete package for such Alternative Learning Systems that include selection of teachers, Teacher's training, curriculum and textbooks, pupil evaluation, management of schools and monitoring and supervision.
